Fielden Willmott Millinery

I love Fielden and her hats!  These are from a shoot we did for her website.

You can see more photos on her website:  http://www.fwmillinery.com.   The lovely wardrobe was created by Sarah Jane Estes, one of Lexington’s best designers.  You can learn more about her and her beautiful designs at http://www.sarahjaneestes.viewbook.com.

A special thank you to the Hunt Morgan House for letting us use the house for the shoot!

I was thrilled to be asked to contribute to STORY magazine at the end of last year.  I had actually made it a goal of 2013 to shoot for STORY and when Julie contacted in the last days of 2012 I couldn’t believe it.  When I found out the story was about Fielden and her hats I was even more stoked.  Fielden makes beautiful couture hats – visiting her studio was an amazing experience.  I’ll admit that I’ve never thought of myself as a hat person, but trying on hats with Fielden and talking about the different styles… well, her enthusiasm is contagious.  (Add to that my love for Downton Abbey and a general yearning for a simpler time; I think I may become a convert!)   If you thought that hats in Kentucky were only about the Derby, you would be mistaken.  Though Fielden is creating a collection Derby hats (that are amazing!), most of her hats are the type that you would wear more often.  No special occasion needed – unless you, like me, would consider brunch (or happy hour) a special occasion, then this is right up your alley.

You can check out Fielden’s website here:  http://www.fwmillinery.com and you can also see her work on Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/FieldenWillmottMillinery.

*special thanks to Meaghan for modeling!  Part of the inspiration for this shoot came from a fun shoot that Meaghan and I did together last year.
